Carbohydrates, or carbs, are sugar molecules. Carbohydrates are one of the three main nutrients included in foods and beverages, along with proteins and fats. The body receives glucose from carbohydrates, which is then transformed into energy for maintaining bodily functions and engaging in physical activity. Glucose, also known as blood sugar, is the main source of energy for your body's cells, tissues, and organs.

Types of carbohydrates 

There are two types of carbohydrates: Simple and Complex. Simple carbohydrates include sugar such as the sugar found in fruits. Complex carbohydrates include starches and fibers, such as fibers found in grains and vegetables, and starches found in bread, pasta, etc. 

How much carbohydrates should you consume in a day?

Carbohydrates make up 45-65% of total daily calories. so if you eat 2000 calories daily, 900-1300 calories should be from carbohydrates.
